This is a solid book shelf that holds books. It comes assembled, all you need to do is set the shelves. We needed a BOOK SHELF to hold my husband's books. It's not one of these "shelving" units that wobbles and starts to fall apart when you set books on it. But what I didn't consider was that our study is on on the second floor and this book shelf weighs 115 lbs. And it comes in a wood crate which makes it heavier and more bulky. I panicked and hired a mover for $150. One mover came over and uncrated it. Then he strapped the book case onto a hand truck. He then pulled it up the steps, one step at a time, rolling the wheels of the hand truck up each step. At the top of the steps, carting into the study was easy. It didn't occur to me to uncrate it first. I didn't think 115 lbs could be pulled up the steps like this. He was done in 15 minutes. I bought the 6 foot unit. I'll probably get the 4' unit later.
