I was looking for a (semi) secure cabinet to keep some valuables in - a few long guns, some photography stuff, and a few other things here and there. I don't have a place that would support a proper safe, and the 'security cabinets' were really not all that more secure than this. This cabinet has mounting holes already cut in the back and floor to anchor in to walls and floors, and I'm adding additional lock points to secure it. For the cost savings versus the other security cabinets, it's worth it.

The split shelf design works great. The shelves are about 20 inches wide, occupying about 70% of the width. That leaves adequate space on the right for longer items, such as long guns or brooms or if you put a bar at the top, clothing.

The cabinet itself is relatively thin sheet metal, and it would be easy to cut through if someone was really determined, but it's more than adequate to keep kids out of stuff the don't need to be in. It came in cardboard and plastic wrap for packaging, which while it seemed sparse, did a good job of protecting the cabinet in shipping. My only real complaint was that there were a few areas that were not completely painted - the person doing the spray was a little light on the inside back and inside the left door. Not terribly important, as I have a dehumidifier inside, but enough to be visibly notable.

Overall, I wish I had space for two of these. After I got it installed, I went around the house and picked up a bunch of stuff that I realized I'd like to keep locked up (checkbooks, passports, etc) and although it's pretty big, I filled it up pretty fast.
