Horizon Computer Desk Review

I looked about and finally settled on this desk. It really came down to the fact that the desk has a really wide keyboard tray and it's metal and glass.

So I got the desk and it was well packed, no damage. I put it together by myself without incident. All in all I have to say that I am very pleased with the quality of the workmanship and the materials. The desk is all metal with the exception of the keyboard tray and insert. The keyboard tray is particle board with what seems to be a really heavy vinyl cover and the insert is plastic. Oh yea, the desk top is glass. The metal has a nice powder coat matte black finish, pretty standard. Everything fit together well.

The desk is stable and sturdy and the keyboard shelf is pretty sturdy and slides well. I can't imagine what I'll use that tray insert for, but it's there. The glass top is smoked/brownish rather than the standard black. I kinda dig the curves, it gives the desk a distinctive look.

Putting the desk together was fine. The instructions are, well, not so much instructions as a couple pictures, but if you have ever assembled something before it's not a problem.

I have a few suggestions to anyone getting this desk:
- Don't tighten any of the screws completely until the desk is fully assembled.
- Clean the glass before you put in in. Part of the underside of the glass isn't easy to get to when installed.
- Flip the desk over to install the keyboard tray glides and feet of the desk.
- Be careful not to over-tighten the screws into the particle board of the keyboard tray as you'll strip the holes out. You don't need them super tight anyway as the tray actually sits on top of the supports.
- When you are tightening the screws at the end move the desk around a bit so that the pieces move into their final place.
- Tighten the glass last.
