OttLite: Tulip Natural Daylight Lamp in Silver Review

First the good:
- Small footprint
- Very unique look
- Extending feature is probably helpful, though I didn't really need it

On to the bad:
- The lamp has a noticeable buzzing sound when powered on
- I wish the lighting given off was a bit warmer
- You have to apply a generous amount of force to the power button to turn the lamp on

This final point brings me to the warranty policy and overall quality of the product. The power button broke within the first 8 months and I probably only used it 15 times. Upon closer inspection, it appears a small plastic washer had broken. Since it was still under warranty, I emailed the company and they responded relatively quickly. They told me I would have to pay a $9.90 "warranty fee" and would receive a whole new lamp (and not even the same color I had purchased). Since that is almost a 1/3 of the cost I paid for the lamp, I asked if there were any other options, specifically, if they could just send me a new plastic washer. That apparently is not an option. Needless to say, I declined their offer.

Overall, I cannot recommend this lamp due to the flimsy power button nor can I recommend purchasing from this company due to their flimsier warranty. I will be sending a copy of this review to the company and if my outcome changes, I will be sure to update this review accordingly.

The product arrived broken in the box -- it is elaborately packaged, but alas, it's not enough to keep this fragile item safe on it's way across the globe. Not wanting to go through the trouble to re-pack and ship back, I have super-glued each of the three switch handles back on to their pegs and for now, they are holding. This is a cheaply made knock-off of the original. You might get lucky and get one that's better made than mine, or has had an easier ride on it's way to you, but I wouldn't take the chance.

The piece arrived with some minor issues - a missing piece of hardware here and there AND there was no chair. I thought that it came with the matching chair as shown. But it doesn't. So the $849.00 for just the desk now seems steep! The company did assist me in finding the exact same chair pictured which is now on the way from another company. So Plumstruck did their best to make me happy! Their customer service made up for any and all aggravation that I had. I still wish that for $849.00 the piece came with the chair. Oh well!! My daughter loves it and I bought it for her - so that is all that matters. It is beautiful and well made!!
