Lite Source LS-19998 Elettra Pendant Review

I ordered two of these lamps for my hallway. One box had been opened and the lamp looked as though it had been installed before (the wires looked like they had seen the inside of a wire nut). Fortunately no parts were missing. The second box was unopened but it was missing the collar that holds the glass shade to the lamp. Unfortunately, since the heavy glass shade is the last thing you install, I didn't realize this until I had installed the light. GRRRRRRRRRRR. I am sick to death of Chinese quality.
UPDATE: I reached out to Lite Source and they very kindly sent me the missing part. Excellent customer service!

Alera Wing Back Guest Chair, Mahogany Finish/Oxblood Vinyl Review

The chair is made in China and consists of 100% polyurethane foam pad, I guess to meet the flammability requirements of California Bureau of Home Furnishings. The chair is comfortable and you really can't beat the price - given that this is supposed to be an over $500 chair. But it has some pluses and minuses. It's really meant to be more of an office chair than a living room chair - while the seat, due to a person's weight provides nice softness, the back of the chair is rigid due to it being overstuffed. But as an office chair, especially in modern office environments (i.e., with multiple working surfaces), it would really need wheels to be practical. Wheels would, of course, defeat the whole look of this chair as it is really more of a writing desk chair, not a multiple desk chair. Thus, when it says "guest chair" - take it seriously. It would be great for a law office guest seating - but then the price wouldn't be as great given that one would be able to find cheaper "guest" chairs. While unorthodox, I actually do use it in living room in front of the TV - if you have a foot stool to shift your weight back to the padded back, it works well. The added benefit is that you'll not be tempted to almost lie down in a chair as is often the case with most recliners and watch TV for many more hours than you might do otherwise. You'll be comfortable watching a show or two, but with you not lying down in a chair that's almost a bed (as with recliners), you'll get up and go do something else with your time when you're done with TV. So while I definitely recommend this chair, it's not for everyone and might actually be too expensive for just a "guest" chair. Oh, and while I can't guarantee it, the shipper that the seller uses is very fast - I got the chair in about 3 days. The chair comes with the legs needing to be screwed to the body, which is fairly standard - but make sure you have plenty of space to take the box apart and to assemble the chair.

Black Multi-Purpose Hydraulic Saddle Stool ST-08BLK Review

I have a mid-arm sewing machine and I'm starting to free-motion quilt on a frame and this stool is perfect for allowing me to sit up close to focus close to my stitching, while allowing me to maneuver around effortlessly. The chair assembled in seconds as it was basically only three parts; seat, chrome stem and bottom with wheels already attached. Its rolling well on my carpet too so I'm maneuvering across the frame without even thinking about it, rather I'm thinking about my work, and how close I'm able to get to it. I credit the wheels, but also the saddle style itself for allowing me to move around so smoothly and how close I can get to my work. Plus its very comfortable and cushiony. The height range of this stool is perfect and it raises and lowers well matching the range listed in the specs listed here. I believe its like 23" to 30" range. This stool looks nice and functions well.

This stool has all the features I was looking for at a reasonable price so I'm very happy with this purchase!! I'm so happy with it in fact, that I rushed immediately back to Amazon to order another one as a gift for a dear friend and quilting mentor and she tells me she loves it too. She had a bit of difficulty reaching behind her to the bar that raises and lowers the seat, although I had no problem. I hope that will be just momentary for her till she gets used to the seat and knowing where the lever is. Once its set right, she really won't need to adjust it again, however.

I love getting a chance to rave about a purchase that I'm so happy with. There were others double the price, that didn't look any better and didn't have as good of a height range so I'm so happy to have found this one. I live on the east coast and it shipped out from California right away and I received it in a very timely fashion for how far away I am. I highly recommend this great stool for quilting and I'm sure I will find many other uses for this too as its purely a pleasure to have on hand.

Pelican 0500NF Black Transport Case No Foam - Hard case 0500 Review

Bought this to protect a high pressure air compressor (diving type of compressor). It worked out great. I use it upside down from what the picture shows. The tall part with the handles is my lid and the short side is my base. I installed the pelican wheel kit on the bottom part and the leg kit on the lid. When I'm ready to use my compressor I remove the lid and stand it on its legs. I place the dive tank into the lid while I fill it. Meanwhile the compressor stays on the base and I can wheel it around if I need to. Very heavy duty and can be shipped as freight with the legs attached so a forklift can lift from under. Expensive but worth it, just like every other case made by Pelican. I docked one star because of the price.
