I wanted a torchiere in a brass finish which would look nice and somewhat dressy. After much searching on line, I purchased this Kichler. When it arrived, I was impressed at how carefully it was packed, and the general quality of the merchandise. The base was good and heavy, the pole had a solid, substantial feel, and the lamp bowl felt and looked like real alabaster. There was no problem using a large 3-way CFL bulb. What really sold me was the ease of putting it together. I am not especially handy, but the pole sections only had to be screwed together-- no tools at all needed, not even a screw driver. I so liked the lamp, that for another location in our new home, I bought a second one a few days later. If this style lamp appeals to you, I would definitely recommend it.
